Ulysses and Working Copy

I am trying to get my legs under me again with regard to Ulysses, a fantastic writing app for mac and iOS devices and leveraging Working Copy (git client for iOS devices) to host my site in GitHub.

Wow, what a mouthful that was… and even though I work in the cloud full time, git is well… git. While it does prove challenging, hosting my site there does two things - it forces me to learn and keeps the overall complexity of the site down.

To help with hosting, the site runs on the Jekyll platform and is published via GitHub actions on commit, rebuilding whatever changes and helping things be mostly smooth.

If you have not touched your site in a while and forget that there are setup-y things to remember - so your git repo shows up near your writing app and that markdown, not writing app random binaries are needed, there remains a small learning curve.

I think I have them worked out for now. Nothing a little google about Ulysses and working copy couldn’t solve. Now if only I could make some snippets or templates to handle post meta data for new things… I’m sure I can, just need to play around a bit more.
