I Found The Next Thing
Over the past few weeks I have been looking for my next role in the IT community. Something cloudy with a chance of career path was about the biggest requirement. I spent this time talking to recruiters of all sizes and industries, which was honestly not as horrifying as it used to be for me. The conversations I had with potential companies were very candid and up front. I guess I expected the interview process to be much like it was when I got out of college - it is different. And that is a good thing.
In addition to a cloud role, I was hoping to find something mostly remote. Let’s be honest, COVID-19 took the world remote and I have to say, I got used to the idea of working from home. My office and some of the tech in it will need to be made better over the coming months just because it will be the workspace for the full time gig - all the time.
Ok.. so where are we:
Cloud - Check Growth and Learning opportunities - Check (see cloud) Remote work - check
THe other thing I was hoping for was some documentation work - not re-writing the war and peace sized manuals of old, but helping an organization and it’s teams create better (more useable) documentation from code or processes and what have you. And decent benefits - you know, being able to take a day off here and there is probably a good idea.
Now we also have:
Documentation/Writing - check PTO and decent benefits - check
I am still working out the details on start date and all that jazz - soon - but will be joining Coterie Insurance as a Sr. DevOps Engineer. This role will be focused in Azure - nope, not just in Azure DevOps, but in Azure and have the exciting task of ensuring things that go into the cloud, get there in the best way possible.
I am very much looking forward to this new opportunity and cannot wait to get started - well maybe after a little break and some office remodeling, but you know what I mean.
The next adventure begins 8-24-2020.
