Learning and Architecting, the same, but different
Is this thing on? Seems I have not looked in this drawer for a minute. Sorry about that, I have been trying to sort out what to do with this - or not do with it, for some time - and my day job has changed a few times over the past while.
Currently, I work on a platform engineering team and generally spend my days fixing cloudy things. From working to untangle a CSP to building a cloud strategy for my organization, things have been busy - and the platform engineering happens because others on my team are working hard at it daily.
I am still learning new things about cloud technology and helping an awesome team of people do awesome things. Some of them technical and written in terraform and some of them crafted in PowerPoint or MS word.
I think I miss the community work of the last 20 years more than I thought I would. Yeah, writing blogs, books, and other things is a ton of work and tracking it to ensure people see it to provide feedback, guidance, and whatever else takes up piles of time, but getting things out there for the world to see and maybe learn from is worth it.
Posting on socials, twitter or facebook or whatever the kids are using these days is not my jam in the least. Honestly, getting out of most social media has been good for me. Will that decrease my reach - yep. Do I care? Not really.
This is the “hey I am still around” post I do from time to time. Maybe I will have something to share about a new project soon, if I ever decide what that might be and really move on it. This also serves as the post to see if all this stuff still works, but right now, little else.
