Lots of Good Days Lately
Over the past few months, I have been stuck in some kind of horrible rut. The problem for me has been imposter syndrome, anxiety, and some of the things that ride along with that. Needless to say - it was pretty shitty.
Over the last two weeks, I have been spending a good amount of time working on myself. Meditation, reading, and thinking about how I might improve. In addition, I have been making attempts to set boundaries with some people in my life (some of these boundaries have lead to a bit of a Doh! Moment a time or two, but that’s ok).
Some of the new things being tried have been a bit past 2 weeks, but generally all the things going forward together have been in the last two weeks.
Some of the things I have tried:
- The Calm App - meditations and other things just to chill. This app is also the best thing American Express has done for me. There once was a discount on calm - and it included lifetime access. I cannot say enough good things - please check them out at https://www.calm.com/gp/bybczg
- Reading about mindfulness, many books from Thich Nhat Hahn these have been awesome. Short and easy reads to help me consider the present moment and move away from worrying about upcoming things or dwelling on the past.
- I have also been working through Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty - just to get some perspective and continue moving toward mindfulness.
I am not going to try to drive home mindfulness or meditation, but they have been wonderful for me and I am going to do my best to keep practicing.
This is the stuff I have been up to lately - working on myself to grow and become a bit better as a human. I will not ever be perfect, but I am far more ok with that than I have been.
Thanks to all who have been willing to chat and help me out, even in the smallest of ways. I appreciate all of you more than you know.
This post is about what I have been trying and a high level about what I have been going through recently. I am not a therapist or anything - this is just what I am doing to better myself, your mileage, as they say, may vary.
My journey is just getting started and I honestly, cannot wait.
